Loyd W. Powell, Jr. has served as President , Chief Executive Officer, and Chairman of the board of the company since 1968. His career started when he was a young boy by his father’s side going to rigs of North Central Texas and Southern Oklahoma. Mr. Powell is a 1967 graduate of the University of Denver in Finance and received his MBA in Finance from Southern Methodist University in 1968. He is singularly responsible for maturing the company financially, operationally, and technically to what it has become today.  

Terry M. Cahill has served as Chief Financial Officer and Corporate Controller of the company since 1981. After attending North Texas State University, Mr. Cahill became a Certified Public Accountant and began his professional career in public accounting at Deloitte & Touché.  He is responsible for all accounting and financial aspects of the company.

Laverne H. Parker has served as Secretary of the company and Senior Vice President of Land Administration since 1980. She attended the University of Houston and is a Registered Land Professional. Mrs. Parker has been a member of DAPL since 1981, a Member of AAPL since 1992, and is responsible for the management of all land and land r issues including leasing, title, agreements, division orders, and lease maintenance.

Thomas A. Obenchain joined the company in 1998 and has served as the manager of Acquisitions and Production since that time. Mr. Obenchain obtained a BFA from Texas Christian University and possesses a diverse professional background that includes corporate trust, finance, real estate, & manufacturing.

Michael A. Paulson lives and offices in Midland, Texas, and has served as senior geologist for the company since 1989. Mr. Paulson holds a BA in History from Tulane University and received a BS in Geoscience from the University of Texas at Dallas. He is responsible for all aspects of geological interpretation and evaluation of the company’s exploration prospects and ongoing projects.  

Robert M. Hough is serving as senior exploration geologist for the company. Mr. Hough’s career in the oil industry began in 1978 after he received a BS in geology from Denison University and a MS in Geology from the University of Tulsa.  Mr. Hough is a member of AAPG and the Dallas Geological Society. His industry background and previous experience enhances Cholla’s exploration effort in existing and emerging areas of interest.

William H. Henley lives in Nocona, Texas, and has served as the Director of Field Operations for the company since 1980. He is responsible for all field operations and field supervision, including location evaluation, drilling activity, completions, well maintenance, and all field personal.
